South Notables: Spivak Law Firm

Todd Spivak, an attorney and former investigative reporter whose work was twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, has opened a law firm at West Liberty and Potomac avenues in Dormont. The practice focuses on family law, criminal defense cases and Social Security disability cases.
Mr. Spivak’s offices are above Dormont Vision Center, which is operated by his father, optometrist Paul Spivak. Rob Spivak, Todd’s brother, works there as an optician.
Before receiving his juris doctor degree at the University of Colorado Law School, Todd Spivak, a Carnegie native, worked for 10 years as an investigative journalist for newspapers in metropolitan markets, including Chicago and Houston. His work won several national awards, including the First Amendment Award and Investigative Reporters and Editors Certificate.
During law school, Mr. Spivak clerked at the U.S. attorney’s office for the District of Colorado and the Colorado public defender’s office.
