Obtaining a child custody order can be fast and easy if you and your ex agree on a schedule.

But if you don’t agree, you may have to wait a long time before a Family Court Judge will hear your case and determine the outcome.

In Allegheny County, parents who file custody actions can wait up to a year or longer before their case is finally scheduled for trial.

However, you may shortcut the process significantly by requesting an Interim Relief Hearing to at least obtain a temporary custody schedule while waiting for trial.

The temporary order may not include everything you want, though it will establish a consistent schedule that is fully enforceable.
